This is not an operating key. It turns past the normal stop and lets the core slide out.

Global Link removable core locks are built so a site can be rekeyed in minutes. You turn the control key, slide the old core out and drop a new one in, and that lock now takes a different key. Facilities teams use this when staff change or a key goes missing. Keep the control key separate from the keys it manages.
